Recap: Game Developers’ Workshop – 10

On the 27th of February we hosted the annual Game Developers’ Workshop. This year’s workshop was a great success and we would like to give a big thanks to everyone that participated. A lot of people visited the workshop and despite the 60 people limit being filled we even managed to squeeze in a few extra enthusiasts last minute.

The design exercises were made to prepare the participants for the competition and beyond, focusing on game design, core features and the financial aspect. Here is a brief overview of the exercises from the workshop:

  • The Superman Challenge
  • Core Features
  • Core Features new
  • Show Me the Money
  • Changing Platforms

The participants in the workshop showed great creativity and came up with many innovative ideas. Thinking outside the box is something that is second nature to many of these talented game developers.

All of us at Swedish Game Awards had a great time and second our Project Manager Filip Marzuki in his comment: “I hope the developers here are having as much fun as I am”. The participants seemed to enjoy themselves as well – here is what some of them had to say:

I’m really glad I travelled all the way down here to participate.
-Participant from Norrland

I can’t belive not more of my fellow game developer students are here.
-Participant from Skövde

This year’s workshop was by far the largest in Swedish Game Awards history and we hope we can keep improving on this great event.

Ask the Jury!

After the Game Developers' Workshop, the Jury reached out to us and requested that a forum thread would be made on gameawards.se where the participants could ask questions to the Jury. Of course, we oblige them by doing just that. Henceforward, any question you may have to the Jury can be asked in the newly made thread named "Ask the Jury!" in the "SGA Competition and Events" section of the forum. The direct link to the thread can be found here.

The Jury @ GDW

Oblige the jury, oblige yourself: ask your questions!

...and get in the game.
