Hejsan..
I’ve been searching for a library for loading, animating and rendering a model but haven’t found any for free :(.
So I’ll just have to do it myself :), since I’ll be spending a lot of time on this I’d rather use my own format instead of some existing ones, but I don’t want to make my own application for creating models and animations so I’ve been trying to find tutorials on how to write 3Dmax plugins for exporting. Does anyone have any experience in this matter and would be nice enough to post some link to tutorials? And maybe some advice too?
I’ve made an application for skeletal animation for 2 dimensions before, supported separated bone animation and a lot of neat stuff, but i feel like that knowledge wont make this little adventure much easier so links to this matter would also be appreciated.
Thanks!
First programming post :)!

I’ve made a tiny MAXscript for exporting models into my format, currently only the mesh and the texture coordinates are supplied so It’s only useful for static objects like crates and stuff. I’ll be getting on to the skeletal animation tomorrow ;).
When i wanted to find a good free format i couldn’t, I was amazed of how hard it was to come by even the simplest model loader and the friggin time i spent on looking for it!, maybe It’s just that my google fu is weak or whatever but i think access to 3d models is important for newbie programmers that isn’t using OGRE..
So if anyone wants and/or needs my little format and loading functions just shout, but like i said no animation is supplied.
Oh, and the only method of exporting is from 3ds max currently.

Btw, i didn’t spend 6 whole days on exporting/importing functions!! lol… Just so that no embarrassing misunderstandings are made.. i did however spend them on my little game project :D.
