A fresh team of students from the universities of Skövde and Göteborg welcome you to the remains of the Aral Sea. Once one of the world's largest lakes, now - a desolate wasteland, the white desert, spreading its salt on the wind throughout Central Asia and beyond. An ecological disaster, and a world worth saving. There have been those who have tried.

Residue is a 2-dimensional platform adventure set against the background of this fascinating real-life environment, brought to life through months of research and painstaking attention to detail. Through gameplay as much as through dialogue (fully voiced by a cast of experienced stage actors), we want to tell the story of the people who tried to save a world, and what it did to them. It is at once a warm and a cold story about our compulsion to be important and make a difference, but also about how love can melt ambition.

You will be controlling several different characters with different abilities - and different goals. Being able to explore different parts of the ship graveyard, their paths inevitably cross during the course of the game, leading to varying levels of conflict. All your enemies in Residue are people you yourself have been controlling, and this is the engine that drives the game. We promise to always keep the player in control - no cutscenes - but we also promise to do our best to always make that control meaningful.

This is what we're doing. No enemy hordes, no cutscenes; just you, a small cast of characters, the environment and an interactive story worth telling.
