Description

Have you heard the one about Stalin, Amin, Hitler and Hussein? One day, 4 of our most beloved dictators of all time decided to have a race. Take control of your favorite dictator and be the first to collect 5 gold bars to win the race. Dead Dictators Society is a party game for 4 people, and all 4 are playing on the same keyboard at the same time. Use 2 keys for steering, left and right. Chaos will break lose when the power up’s are being used. Switch keys with another player, left becomes right and vise-versa or get 2 new keys. What at a first glanced seemed like a simple race becomes a chaotic party game when 8 hands are flying, pushing and fighting all over the keyboard. On your marks… The game was made by 3 guys during a 48 hour Game Jam-session at Gotland University.

"You can't expect the players to press the keys as you wish, In a hectic fight you can probably imagine the possibility that the player would release the turn-left key slightly after pressing the turn-right key or even miss and press additional keys."

I'm not sure what you mean, cause if you're not pressing "the right button" then you wont move... so then it's not a problem. And I can imagine a hectic fight quite well, since we have play tested it with several different people than our self and we haven't come across any difficulties YET.

Sure, I will post a picture later today. ^__^

"Since you're tapping the buttons, not all keys are being used exactly at the same time" You can't expect the players to press the keys as you wish, In a hectic fight you can probably imagine the possibility that the player would release the turn-left key slightly after pressing the turn-right key or even miss and press additional keys..

The game would for example not work on my cheapest keyboard
if eight players had this layout:
player: left key - right key
p1: q-e
p2: z-c
p3: t-u
p4: b-m

If 3 or more player turn to the same direction someone will be screwed over and hir won't be happy.

Well, it's not like you can do anything about it, I'm just saying maybe you could have some suggestions in the readme for how to enable more players, using a better keyboard or multiple keyboards (or even joysticks), just in case of a scenario that is likley going to happen.

How about some pictures then? :P

Since you're tapping the buttons, not all keys are being used exactly at the same time. During our play test sessions we haven't detected any problems. And no, it's not possible at the moment to try it out. We have a few minor things to take care of before release. Like tweaking, graphical modifications (we have to make it more ill-looking) and sound.

Make sure your game works with the cheapest of keyboards, I doubt they can keep track of that many keys, if you don't find the perfect key layout for your keyboard which I doubt most people would do to play a game.

When I play with someone and the keyboard can't keep track we connect a second keyboard, but i guess this would ruin the "when 8 hands are flying, pushing and fighting all over the keyboard".

I know I'm being a party pooper, but I don't think you'd mind.

Anyway, Is it possible to try the game out? :)
